MOO/MAUXTASTIC
Every town has its burger, RVA has several that will get your tastebuds revvin’.
Lucy’s | Jackson Ward
Lucy’s is fantastic for so many things, but their locally sourced beef burgers are divine. Simple and delicious.
Carytown Burgers and Fries | Lakeside | Carytown | Short Pump
With three locations, it’s hard to dismiss CBF and they consistently make a great burger with many options for toppings. Bonus points for their crispy tots!
Kreggers at Hand | Fan | Ashland
If you wanna catch a game and a really good burger, you want Kreggers. Love their side options and the burgers are primo. One of the best Impossible burger options I’ve had!
Dot’s Back Inn | Bellevue
My favorite burger in town for so many years was The Famous Amos at Dot’s. Bacon, Cheese and oh so goodness and super affordable.
Pop’s Dogs Ma’s Burgers | Lakeside
Sometime you just want a roadie. You get both worlds here, Pop and Ma’s is small and full of Southern character.
Honey Whytes | Shockoe Valley
I forget about Honey Whytes sometimes, but when I do go there, I am reminded jarringly how good the burger is. Lots of tasty options with turkey and veggie available.
PERFECT PIES
I don’t mess around with Pizza, having lived in New York, I’m no stranger to what a great pie at 3am tastes like.
The Hop Craft Pizza and Beer | The Fan
I love the pizza here and it’s just a bonus that they have a craft brew market adjoined to the dining area. Try the Pickleback, so good! Unique options and if you’re not feeling pizza, get their meatballs to go and add it to your favorite pasta.
Nota Bene | Shockoe Valley
NB not only boasts authentically amazing Italian dishes, but is seriously the best D.O.P. Buffalo Margherita pizza I’ve ever had, unfortunately it’s the only pizza you can get there now.
Mary Angela’s | Carytown
Veterans, Mary Angela’s comforts me with futbol and New York style pizza and is reminiscent of my college years at VCU.
Dinamo | Oregon Hill
Cousin to Mama Zu, it’s no surprise they have knock your socks off pizza. Fresh and perfect.
8 1/2 | The Fan | Church Hill
Speaking of Mama Zu, my hands down favorite pie in RVA. The fresh ingredients alone tantalizes the tastebuds. I love grabbing this za and sitting in Scuffletown Park wolfing it down.
Sgt. Pepper’s | Lakeside
When I want to order in and a cheap fix.
