Sleep Tight!
Sleep fever for Friday! Check out my Five for Friday bedroom choices!
My five favorite current bedroom trends!
The Hangout
One of my wishlist items in the Queen’s Quarters is to have hangout space. My bedroom is my serene space and I want a place within it to read, journal, or just lounge about with a glass of whiskey and some smooth tunes.
Decorated Walls
I love simplistic and striking wallpapers, they can add a hint of color. I also love textured walls of wood or batten style wall designs. It showcases the focal point—the bed! So many great and creative designs out there to choose from.
Moody Colors
I love this trend so much. Those deep hues on an accent wall just gives your bedroom the dramatic effect it needs. My favorites are deep blues and greens or even a deep blood red.
The Main Event
Beds Bespoke headboards are all the rage and there are some beautiful ones out there, but I love me a beautiful wrought iron frame. I dream of art deco!
Accents
Whether it’s the lighting, artwork, or unique pieces, I love cool accents in the bedroom.
Lighting. Whether it’s sconces or a center light fixture it is a prime piece to setting the mood.
Mirrors create space and are a beautiful accessory for any bedroom, mixing up modern and vintage is great play for the room.
Rugs can embellish your sleeping quarters. Choose rugs that will add to your theme, geometrics with more modern sleekness or Orientals for a more traditional look.
Bedding. Nothing says this is where the magic happens, than the choice of dress for your bed. Choosing the right thread count, color of sheets, patterns, number of pillows, what do you dream of?
Plants. This trend is still going strong. The biosphere is strong here. It’s also good for you!
Faux Flamers
A great way to store and decorate is to utilize your non-working fireplace.
A lot of us Richmonders live in old houses because who doesn’t love the charm? With those old houses comes the lack of a real working fireplace. I have one myself. There are some things you can do to spruce up and use it to your decorating advantage. Here are my five faves.
